| | Most important things to have in college dorm room? | | I know it might seem like a strange question, but it has been years (more than I care to admit) since I was in college. I know that times have changed. My daughter will be going to college this fall, and I want to know what she will need most! I know that there are things that are 'nice to have' but what are the things that end up being essential? She has a laptop computer, bedding and a small refrigerator (donated by a friend who has completed college) already. What else would you recommend? Thanks for your help myLot community! | |

| | Did you stay in a Dorm while you were in College? | | I did stay in a dormitory back in college and i have to say i had the greatest time! It was a time to be independent... I also had a blast coz my roomies were my high school buddies.... Miss you Katrina, Leizl and Carmela... i'll never forget our College Escapades!;)

| are you a light sleeper? | | do you have the habit of taking a nap during the noon break?i do.but,sadly i am definitely a light sleeper,namely hard to fall asleep and easy to wake up.
if you are not,you are so lucky to be spared from this annoyance.for me,i can never fall asleep without lying on a bed.i mean,some others can bend over a table and take a nap,which fails me so many times.
apart from this,absolute silence is also required.when i lived in the College Dorm,i always choose to be the last one to go to bed,so no more talks or other noise whatever could be heard.
i guess,having a separate room is best for me.and what about you?i'd like to hear... | |

| Have you ever been anywhere that changed your view of the world? | | About 5 years ago I was involved with/engaged to a young man who lived in Texas, while I lived in Colorado. He spent a couple of weeks with me in my apartment during our relationship and I spent a couple of weeks with him in Texas. One week at his parents' house and one week in his college dorm room[em]shocked[/em]He was attending college in Austin at the time and so we spent a great deal of our time there and I have wanted to go back ever since. I absolutely fell in love with the city and felt more at home there than I had ever felt anywhere in my life.Austin is a huge musician and artists' town and I have a whole plethora of plans for when I get there. I don't care if I'm 60 when it happens!Have you ever been anywhere that had this kind of effect on you? | |
| | What do you thing of paying it foward? | | Let me tell you a wonderful story. My youngest daughter who is 19 and in college can't afford to get gifts for anyone this year. Her sister is have a little bit of a hard time seeing how she has a new baby and trying to go to college and work. Well
my youngest being the kind hearted person she is had collected food, diapers, formula and even some money from her college dorm friends. It was so wonderful to hear that even though they are college students they found time to help out a complete stranger. My husband and I don't have much either and can't help out except babysitting if she needs it. Times are tough. Have you ever thought of paying it foward. Have a wonderful holiday season. | |

| visiting college | | Well, here I am. It's 6:34 in the evening and I'm 3 hours from home sitting of all places in an empty college dorm room. It's been a long time since I've spent a quiet evening alone in an empty room with nothing on the walls, just two beds, two dressers, two desks and a small refrigerator sitting on the counter.
I can hear the girls in the hallway...running up and down the stairs, calling to each other as they head to one place or another on campus.
I'm here because Lauren wants to go to school here next fall. We have traveled to Walnut Ridge Arkansas to Williams Baptist College so that she can participate in an Honors Day tomorrow. It is a special preview day for High school seniors with at least a 3.5 GPA...which she has. She will gain an honor's scholarship, that is renewable for all 8 semesters of school for being a part of the day tomorrow.
We decided to drive up a day early...so we wouldn't have to leave at 5 in the morning to get here on time! We received tickets for dinner in the cafeteria....Lauren met a young woman who is a sophomore here...and within minutes, I'd been abandoned.

I'm tired of my place looking like a friggin college dorm room. I want matching furniture.
