College Dorm Desk Discussions| How do you deal with life transitions? | | Whether it be starting a new job, living in a new city, leaving home for the first time, starting college, etc.--how do you deal with the transition from one life routine to another?I am preparing for a big change now--new city, new home, new school, new job. It's like every transition I've ever had to face is rolled up into one.I get very anxious about things and stress quite a bit. I find myself alternating from stages of complete excitement to stages of "how-in-the-world-am-I-going-to-do-this." I de-stress by realizing that this is probably going to be one of the best things I could do for myself (along with the usual de-stressers of yoga, jogging, and walking). It also helps that everyone I've talked to has nothing but good things to say about the city I'm moving to, as well as the university I'll be attending. Even strangers get excited for me (lots of people asked if we were moving during our moving yard sale, and we got lots of positive responses)!Up until now, the biggest transition I've had to face was moving into my first college dorm. | | Dreams | | i've been trying to find answers to my dream... heres how it started, before i live with my parents and two siblings, i graduated and have my first job in a call center, i dreamed of persons wearing black uniforms,we're wearing white uniforms all of us and they're starting to invade our city, they kill anyone who wears white and i guess i was the last person to get killed, but then i fell off the ground with a dead man's body and i saw a black army pointing his gun at me, he was commanded to shot me to make sure that im dead. Then comes a guy,long hair and w/beard. he caught all the armies attention, after that, he acts like a clown and claiming my body since they presume that im dead(i act as if im dead but im not), i was hangin in a bicycle then i found myself in a college dorm, still the armies found out and they were searching for me,the guy w/the beard told me that i should get out thru the toilet bowl.. i know it's funny but really...as if it was a portal..shiit and smells bad... tried to get through the hole just to escape then i got out from another toilet bowl...weird ..pls don't laugh..those who have expertise in dreams are welcome to share... | |
| | Do you give to Charity? | | One of the Pillars of Islam is to give Charity willfully. Now this doesnt mean you must give away money everyday. Charity can be a smile to a stranger or friend, giving food and/or water to an animal that has none, helping someone without accepting compensation, making a crying baby smile again, comforting an old person in pain.I often clip coupons I dont need and place them next to the groceries while I shop so someone else can benefit from it. I feed the outdoor birds and water them as well as the stray cats in the alley during the winter. I buy cheap dog bisquits and throw to dogs behind fences as I roll past in my wheelchair throughout our small town to the stores.A few decades ago while I was getting my Education degree in college, I would midwife for the poor people in the backwoods of Alabama and would not accept wages. How they found out I was a former Army nurse I never knew. They would come to my door and I would follow them to the mother-to-be. Sometimes my old van would have garden fresh vegetables or fruits or freshly butchered meats which I would take back, cook and share what I couldnt fit in my tiny college dorm frig. | | Decorating dorm rooms | | I live in a college dorm room and everything is just so plain. The walls are white and made out of blocks. I need some decorating ideas for my dorm room to make it more homey and fun to live in. I am not allowed to paint, nail, or hang wallpaper/border on the walls. Nothing permanent, everything has to be able to come off the wall, windows, etc. Any ideas? | |
